How to ensure a long life span for your oak bench

Through the years and shifting seasons, furniture in solid wood will change character – this happens because wood is a living material. It is affected by its surroundings, which is why you may experience cracks and damage in wooden furniture if they are placed in direct sunlight or in a room with too low humidity. On the other hand, the wood can expand and distortions if the humidity is too high, which will damage the furniture’s otherwise smooth surface.

To prevent damages and protect the wood, at Wood Zone we treat all our oak benches with a durable hard wax oil. If you want to maintain the beautiful surface of the bench, it is important to re-oil it when needed. You should always use the same oil treatment as the one originally used and clean the bench with the correct care- and cleaning products to get the best results. This way, you can easily avoid unwanted damage that removes the oil and exposes the wood, which makes permanent damage more likely.
